Beautifully preserved Birch Leaf Fossil from the Paleocene, 58 million years ago. This specimen was discovered at Sentinel Butte, North Dakota, USA.
Birch is the common name for members of the Betulaceae family. The descendants of these Paleocene Birch have remained unchanged over the past 58m years.
This a beautifully defined leaf both in colour, but also with an almost 3D effect.
A great addition to a collection.
