Carcharadon Shark

Product description

Carcharadon megalodon was a giant shark that lived from the Oligocene 44m years ago until the Pleistocene 1.5m years ago.
Arguably, it was one of the most formidible predators that ever lived, certainly in the oceans of its time.
They grew to over 60 feet long, with an enormous mouth full of row upon row of huge teeth, some over 6 inches long.
Because the bodies of sharks are composed mainly of cartilage, it is predominantly the teeth from which we know this animal.
Some fossil vertebrae have been discovered, but they are rare.

This tooth is  6 1/4 inches long, and it is rare to find them so large and with the reddish colouration that this tooth posesses.
It was found in the James River, Eastern Virginia, USA.

The size of the tooth is extremely good. Some parts of the root are eroded, and it has reasonable serration.
All in all, a very collectable tooth
