Product description
A wonderful crinoid plate from Crawfordsville, Indiana, USA, containing two examples of Macrocranium modulus They are from the Lower Mississippian, Osagean Stage, 345 million years old.
Although resembling plants, they are members of the phylum Echinodermata, and filtered plankton from the oceans.
They anchored themselves with the stem and used their crowns to collect their nutrients.
A beautiful plate with superb preservation.
