Cybele Trilobite
Product description
A Cybele aff bellatila trilobite, discovered in the Velhovian level (B3c), Arenigian series, Lower Ordovician, near the Obuchov River, St. Petersburg, Russia. It is approximately 480m years old.
The specimen is partially enrolled, but still displayes the side "frills" typical of the species, and the eye stalks.
It is thought that the "frill" may have helped to support the trilobite and allowed it to hover above the sea bed.
A great example of the species.
