Double Ammonite Procheloniceras
Product description
This double pair of Procheloniceras ammonites is extremely rare. They are from the Lower Cretaceous, 112 million years old, and were discovered in the Aptian Limestone, Coastal Sahara, Morocco.
These are massive ammonites of the species, and very heavy, but are mounted on a stone base to enable them to be free standing.
The species has yet to be taxonomically described, but can be found in many locations worldwide.
Ammonites evolved from Nautiloids in the early Devonian Period, and are related to todays squid, octopus, and chambered Nautiloids.
Air in the chambers of the ammonites enabled them to float.
This makes for an outstanding sculptural piece, and would look fantastic in any setting.
