Double Perisphinctes ammonites
Product description
Perisphinctes is an extinct genus of ammonite that lived during the Jurassic Period, 150 million years ago. This pair were discovered in Tulear, Madagascar.
They proliferated throughout the planaet during the Jurassic, preferring warm seas. They are highly recognisable, and are a marker fossil, assisting in the dating of rocks.
They were marine creatures related to Nautiloids, and used air in the chambers in their shells for buoyancy.
An exquisite pair of ammonites, and a superb display double.
