Frilled Sand Dollars
Product description
This is a rare group of frilled sand dollars, Heliophora orbicularis, from Safi, Morocco. They date from the Miocene, 25 million years old.
They were strange echinoids, with finger like projections around the perimeter of the scutella, and are much rarer than the traditional round shaped sand dollars.
In addition, these creatures are normally sold as individuals, because that is how they are generally found.
To find a group together, such as these, is exceptionally rare.
This piece is of museum quality, and has superb preservation.
A wonderful addition to a marine collection, or fantastic for home display.
