Graphite

Product description

Graphite (historically known as Plumbago), is a crystalline form of carbon, found in Metaporphic and Igneous rocks.

It is the most stable form of carbon, a native element mineral, and one of the allotrops of Carbon.

Graphite is an excellent lubricant, and is much used in industry.
As everybody knows, it is also used in the production of pencils.

In the 4th millenium BC, during the Neolithic Age in South East Europe, the Marita Cultureused graphite in ceramic paint to decorate pottery.

This was mined in Northern Mexico.

An unusual addition to a collection.
