Small, Equus Pleistocene horse
Horse Tooth
Product description
A really nice horse tooth, Equus, from Peace River, Florida, dating from the Pleistocene, around 1.5 million years old.
Equus was very similar to modern day horses, except a little smaller, and first appeared in North America around 2 million years ago.
In order to recognise where in the mouth a tooth was situated, if the chewing surface is basically square, it is an upper tooth, if rectangular, it is a lower.
This is a good quality tooth, with excellent black enamel.
