Complete Juvenile Mammoth Tusk
Baby Mammoth Tusk, Pleistocene
Tusk insertion into upper jaw
Mammoth tusk
Product description
This is an unusual find from the North Sea. Many partial tusks, and tusk bark (the external surface of the tusk) are dredged up by fishermen in the North Sea, but very few complete tusks are found, especially from a baby Mammoth.
This is a wonderful example, including the part of the tusk that entered the socket in the upper jaw of the Juvenile Memmoth.
Mammoths ranged across Europe during the Pleistocene Era, 2.6m until 10,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age.
50,000 years ago, what is now the North Sea was a vast plain, upon which roamed Woolly Mammoths, Woolly Rhinos, and Cave Bears, amongst other prehistoric creatures.
This is why today fishermen dredge up the remains of these animals from the bottom of the North Sea.
This is a fantastic piece of prehistory, and one must wonder why this young animal died all those years ago.
An exceptional opportunity to possess a complete Mammoth Tusk. Very Large examples can command prices of up to £40,000.
We would suggest a display stand to present this beautiful fossil in the best way.
