Mosasaur
Product description
Lower jaw and teeth of a large Mosasaur, Liodon anceps. Discovered in the Upper Cretaceous layer at Oued Zem, Morocco, it is 95 million years old.
Mosasaurs are related to modern day land lizards such as the Monitors & Gila Monsters, and ranged in size from early small creatures of around 1 metre, up to giants of 15 metres and more. They preyed on large fish, turtles, and Plesiosaurs.
This is a most unusual piece, still in its plaster field jacket.
A rare, and wonderful piece to own, from one of the most amazing, and fearsome predators of its era.
