A nice pair of fossilised Oysters, dating from the Cretaceous Period, 95 million years old. They were discovered at Whale Chine, Isle of Wight, UK.
 
The name Oyster is common parlance for a number of distinct groups of bivalve molluscs which lived in marine or brackish habitats.
 
Oysters are still around today, and a great delicacy to be enjoyed.
 
These are well preserved and a good addition to a collection.
