Protoceratops egg
Product description
A complete Protoceratops egg from the Late Cretaceous, 86m to 71m years old. It was discovered in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia.
Protoceratops was a Ceratopsian, and grew to around 8 feet long. It had a parrot-like beak, cheek teeth, and a small frill on its head, probably of use when attracting a mate.
They normally laid 12 to 30 eggs in a spiral pattern, with individual eggs being 8" to 10" long, and potato shaped.
Protoceratops was a herding animal and a herbivore.
This egg is in fair condition, although some of the shell structure has disappeared.
A fantastic addition for a dinosaur collector, or a great talking point when displayed at home.
