Spiny Ammonite
Product description
An outstanding ammonite with the majority of the spines complete.
Spiny ammonites are rare in the fossil record, and to discover one so large, with spines intact is even rarer.
It is free standing on a part of the original matrix.
This specimen was discovered in Morocco, and dates from the Cretaceous 135m to 65m years old.
Ammonites were marine creatures related to modern day Nautiloids, and swam using air for buoyancy in the chambers of their shells.
This is an outstanding and rare fossil ammonite, and is probably the best we have ever been able to offer.
As a free standing natural sculpture little comes close. It is simply stunning. Unfortunately the pictures don't do it justice.
Finally, for the financially minded, it is also a wonderful investment piece.
It could be mounted on a base if the customer requires.
