Product description

A tapir tooth, Tapirus merriami, discovered in Gilchrist County, Florida, USA.

It dates from the Pleistocene Period, 30,000 to 12,000 years old.
This extinct Tapir died out at the end of the last Ice Age.

Of the four known Pleistocene Tapirs, merriami was the largest.
It was a stout bodied herbivore, with short legs, a long tapering head, and a short muscular proboscis, used to strip leaves from shrubs.

A super addition to a collection of Ice Age mammals.
