Theropod Dinosaur Egg
Product description
An absolutely superb example of a Theropod Dinosaur Egg from the Campanian Formation,Gobi Desert, Mongolia. The egg is from the Late Cretaceous, 75 million years old, and belonged to the Dinosaur, Oviraptor philoceratops.
Oviraptor was a small theropod Dinosaur, around 6 to 8 feet in length, and its name in latin means "Egg Seizer", referring to the fact that the first specimen was discovered amongst a nest of what were thought to be Protoceratops eggs. However, modern thinking dictates that, in fact, the eggs were not Protoceratops, but Oviraptor, and that the creature discovered was probably brooding its eggs.
This rare egg is of exceptional quality, with most of the shell present, and a fantastic dark colouration.
Unlike Sauropod eggs, these are much rarer and sought after.
A fine quality egg like this would normally command an asking price in excess of £1200.
We are oferring it as a "STAR BUY" for £775.
A wonderful addition to a collection, and an appreciating asset
