Product description

Species Caryocrinites ornatus, from the Silurian, Rochester State, New York.  They are Paleozoic, 420 million years old and are a rare example of two of these creatures on a single plate. They lived in a shallow sea environment. They have a distinctive rhomboid pattern of pores or slits and these were used for respiration. This specimen has good colour and contrast with the surrounding shale.
