Super MUSEUM quality Mecochirus longimanatus Lobster raised in 3D. discovered in the Solnhofen Limestone, Eichstatt, Germany. It dates from the Upper Jurassic Pariod, 154 to 144 million years old, and is on the original matrix. Some of the most beautiful preservation is found in the Solnhofen limestone deposits in Germany. This large specimen displays the long front legs from which it derives its name, and are typical for this species. They are thought to have used their legs to pull themselves out of the sand on the Ocean floor, and pull themselves along. The Solnhofen fossils are white when discovered so have been tinted for display purposes.
