A superb HUGE Basilosaurus tooth from a primitive toothed whale, dating from the Eocene Period, 40 to 34 million years ago. The tooth was discovered in the desert region of Egypt. Great roots and enamel, and the largest we have found. It was unrelated to modern whales and was able to grasp and chew its food. They grew to around 60 feet in length and were fast swimmers. FINE FOSSILS has been in the fossil business for over 35 years - so buy with peace of mind that it is genuine. All Basilosaurus teeth are rare. Size: 16 cm long.
