High quality fossilised Water Beetle on original matrix dating from the Early Cretaceous Period, 113 million years old. It was discovered in the Crato Formation, Araripe Basin, North East Brazil. All the fossils from this location show amazing soft tissue preservation. The dark lines on the matrix are from the vegetation of the time. It is no longer allowed to collect fossils from this location. We purchased many insect fossils when it was legal to do so from the Crato Formation.
